A French duo (Ateliers Heritage Bike & CIXI Mobilité Active) have collaborated on a unique launch set for EUROBIKE 2024 delivering an Electric Mountain Bike with 2 motors, equipped with a Chainless Pedaling System capable of handling much tougher terrains.

New brand Herigate Altitude equipped with CIXI Chainless Pedaling Technology
The Heritage Altitude Now Goes Chainless

Designed for mountains and rugged trails, the Chainless Altitude immediately showcases its intent with a blend of elegance and aggressiveness, positioning itself as a stylish electric-assisted mountain bike. Built with a French-made carbon frame and high-end components, the Heritage Chainless Altitude features PERS chainless pedaling technology, providing a unique riding experience.

It is undoubtedly a supercharged chainless mountain bike with an exceptional design by Ateliers HeritageBike. The integration is proof of PERS’ careful design considerations to elevate never-before-seen designs,
states Carlos Torres, Head of Design at CIXI.

The chainless system includes PERS technology, a central unit on the bottom bracket, housing sensors, and a tailor-made interaction display on the handlebar. Managed by algorithms, the system regulates the bike’s behavior and automatically shifts gears based on terrain and pedal response. The CIXI system has no chains or derailleurs to maintain or risk damaging trails.

The PERS drivetrain can recover energy from pedaling, enhancing the bike’s range by transmitting energy back to the rear wheel. The CIXI chainless pedaling system also comes with a connective rider's app that offers safety benefits, geolocation, and bike-sharing features.

Chainless PERS Technology integration

Two Are Better Than One

The collaboration between Ateliers Heritage Bikes and CIXI Active Mobility pushes the boundaries of what’s possible with the new PERS technology, adding a second motor to radically transform the VTT.

With faster acceleration, the bicycle can go from 0 to 25 km/h in just 9 seconds while climbing, showcasing unprecedented power. Human power is augmented significantly thanks to PERS technology, resulting in impressive acceleration.

The Chainless Altitude performs better on steeper slopes, reaching 17 km/h on a 15% slope compared to 8.5 km/h with one motor. It can also climb the steepest slopes, starting at 24% inclines, compared to 15.5% with one motor. With maximum power and torque at high speed, it delivers 50Nm of torque and 1125W of power at 30 km/h, compared to 40Nm and 900W with one motor. This innovative combination of Heritage Bikes and CIXI’s PERS technology sets a new standard in the cycling world while maintaining a very natural and reactive pedaling experience while maintaining a very natural and reactive pedaling experience.

A Game-changing Partnership in Active Mobility

Since 2016, CIXI has been dedicated to promoting physical activity for a healthier lifestyle, addressing the growing issue of sedentary behavior affecting our well-being. Two years ago, Pierre Francis, CEO of CIXI, met Xavier Warnier, founder of Heritage Atelier Bike (HAB). Their shared vision led to an innovative partnership aimed at reactivating transportation and transforming mindsets by linking active mobility to well-being. The pioneering spirit of the HAB team inspired them to embrace the challenge of incorporating PERS Chainless Technology into their new mountain bike, introducing groundbreaking innovation into the century-old cycling industry.

Xavier Warnier highlights the potential of PERS technology as “barely at the dawn of what one could imagine,” opening possibilities to transcend the traditional constraints of transmission systems. This collaboration allows CIXI to showcase PERS technology to a broader audience, significantly expanding its reach.

With its dual chainless motorization, the Heritage Altitude 2X2 promises to radically transform the electric mountain bike experience. The future is already here with a really new user experience,

Stated Xavier Wargnier, CEO of Atelier Heritage Bike.

The synergy between our two teams is largely due to their proximity. For the past few months, HAB and CIXI have been sharing the same facilities, allowing for frequent interaction. This cohabitation fosters close collaboration and continuous innovation, which characterizes the region, especially Annecy, emerging as a hub of active mobility in France and Europe.

Highlights of The Chainless Heritage Altitude:

  • Electronic chainless pedals: No more shifting. The algorithms automatically adjust the bottom bracket’s behavior according to the desired comfort or effort cadence, regardless of the bike’s speed or slope.

  • 2WD for enhanced acceleration: Both motors provide impressive acceleration, going from 0 to 25 km/h in just 9 seconds on an 8% incline, compared to 23.6 seconds with a single motor.

  • Dual motors for extreme slopes: The bike can overcome slopes of up to 24%, compared to 15.5% with a conventional configuration, while offering a very natural riding experience.

  • Energy Recovery Technology: Pedaling energy is recovered and transmitted to the rear-wheel drive, extending the range even when the battery is low.

  • All-French design: The majority of Heritage Altitude 2x2 components are made in France, ensuring exceptional know-how and quality.

  • 1125 W of available power.

The Chainless Altitude will be presented at Eurobike 2024 in Frankfurt. Visit us at CIXI’s stand D16, Pavilion 08.
